The internet is full of products for people to buy – especially second-rate ones. However, these low end products can be sold for thousands of dollars in income, and flipped for even more! How do webmasters manage to make so much money from a product that might be found cheaply and easily, or from a product that might not be up to snuff?
Three simple words. Unique. Selling. Point. If you want to make thousands of dollars a month, you need to give your products edge and personality. You want your product to represent the solution to all of your customers’ wants and needs, and you want potential customers to see it as the only solution that gets the job done. For a product to be truly successful, it needs to stand out above the rest.
What exactly is a unique selling point? The word ‘unique’ is defined as having no like or equal, unparalleled. That means that you need to make your product seem as if no other product in your niche can be compared to it. Uniqueness is more than just having a snappy name. It involves creating trust with the customer, and carving out an image. Sounds tough, right? Luckily, uniqueness can be created pretty easily, with a little bit of starting capital.
When planning for your next money making project, create a budget. Set aside money for a custom made theme and professionally written copy. For about $300 you should be able to get a mini-site design that looks appealing to the eye, and professionally written content that converts your traffic into customers. From there, you simply need to setup the product to be delivered, and begin your promotion!
Remember that your content should be focused around the differences your product has, and what makes in unique. The design of your site should aid in this process, making your USP stand out through helpful visual representations. When visitors come to your website, you want them to immediately have a sense of proficiency and skill. Presentation is everything.
Developing your unique selling point doesn’t need to stop at the planning stages. When advertising your product, be sure to highlight the advantages it has over other products in your market. Make your differences into USPs and, if possible, offer a trial version to a select number of people to prove your point. Testimonials are still a fantastic marketing tool that gets people to trust in your product and buy from you.
The way in which you promote your product can also be unique. Give it as a premium in a high profile contest, or create video demonstrations and infographics that help visitors understand the power of your product. Be sure to do some search engine optimization and target specific keywords that your product is associated with. For example, if you’re selling a product that allows you to grow your hair back, why not target the keyword phrase “how do I grow my hair back?” or “is there a cure for baldness?” It’s amazing what some people search for, and how easily you can rank for specific phrases.
Having a unique selling point is essential if you hope to be successful in your online endeavors. Without having a product that clearly benefits your customers, you won’t be able to get anyone to buy from you. With some imagination and a few initial costs, you can begin making thousands of dollars a month by selling your products as solutions.
What are some of the best USPs that you’ve seen around the internet? Do you think that uniqueness is essential for a product, or is it all about how you get the word out? Don’t be shy – share your thoughts and ideas on unique selling points!

I think that USPs are critically important for practically anything online. I mean, whether it’s a product or just a blog, you should definately have a USP as it makes it people to remember you, thus creating sales
Thanks for posting, I’ll definitely be subscribing to your blog.
I agree totally. A USP is the only way to drive sales to your product. However I also strongly believe the product should be unique, useful and of good quality if you want to create a sustainable flow of sales. That way the next product you launch will fly off the shelves too and a reputation of quality will be born.
